Business clothes drive conducted to help domestic violence victims
What better way to help the victims of domestic violence than to assist them in regaining their independence.
In celebrating the National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a non-profit group is asking for assistance to the public in helping the victims get back to their feet by finding them a job. However, in order to increase the chances of being hired, business clothes are needed.
Allstate Foundation is conducting a national donation drive in a bid to collect still usable women’s business clothes including appropriate undergarments such as bras and other professional attire. The drive ends later this week.
The volunteers believe that in order for the victim regain her independence, she should acquire a job of her own in order to sustain herself and her children, if she has any. This would break the usual perception that she will still be dependent on the earnings of her abusive partner.
