Store owner offers items at $20 or less

Now this is a friendly neighborhood retail store you’d want to go to.
The Cache Fashion Store in Cape Coral offers a number of business clothes, apparel, accessories and other items at reasonable prices. Owner Ed Valero said that their clothing items alone won’t cost beyond $20.

Valero acknowledged that the economy is not in good shape at this point in time. He said that this led him to offer reasonably-priced clothing that still looks good. He said that he did not opt to offering branded clothing in his store because the prices are staggeringly high and he wants to stick to “what counts.”

The store opened in January and has so far reported positive response from the public.

Valero said that with this strategy, he gets to have more customers and it guarantees that they will return to buy some more. He said that they have new arrivals every week to continue piquing the interest of the public.

Oprah Winfrey to auction off accessories, business clothing for charity

Billionaire television personality Oprah Winfrey has decided to auction off some of her accessories including items which have featured on the show but not been worn like designer clothing, sportswear, big bras and unwanted women’s business clothing for charity.

Winfrey has put up around 150 items which is composed of the aforementioned items plus designer bags and shoes for sale via the internet auction site eBay. The details of the auction have been outlined at her signature O Magazine.

Interested buyers can bid for the items starting March 1 with the target end date on March 11, 2010.
The proceeds of the sale will all go to Winfrey’s Leadership Academy Girls School situated in South Africa.

Winfrey is currently busy with her final few seasons of her eponymous talk show which has been announced to end soon. She’s been venturing to other modes of businesses and is believed to start her own talk show at her own television network.

Clothing company gets fined over burn injuries

A court has fined a business clothes company over the injury incurred by its two employees from chemical burns.

According to reports, clothing company Flame Safe Fabric Specialists was fined $135,000 by the Worksafe Victoria court after the latter determined that the company failed to give adequate protective gears and equipment to its staff. That also includes the lack of appropriate training to handle these situations.

One of the employees suffered burns after chemicals splashed into his eye while another one suffered more burns to his face.

Acting Executive Director Stan Krpan said that this case should serve as a reminder for employers to give a safer workplace to its employees in order to avoid these dangerous incidents.

He added that it is easy to comply with the law since the standards set in place are very clear and commonsense.

Three companies to conduct fundraising to maintain operations

Three companies have announced its plans to conduct fundraising and have expressed hopes to raise more than £400 million via stock market flotations.

Promethean, a Blackburn-based educational firm, business clothing maker SuperGroup and EMIS, a healthcare software business based in Yorkshire, have confirmed this development.

Market turbulence has seen major floations happening in recent months which led the companies to join the bandwagon.

Promethean projects to raise about £250 million, SuperGroup estimates £125 million and EMIS targets £50 million.

SuperGroup has 40 retail stores in the United Kingdom and has 54 concession stores at store chain House of Fraser.

Promethean, reporting a strong annual grown in education recently, continues its focus on primary and secondary education. About 550,000 classrooms in about a hundred countries benefited from the company’s equipment.

As for EMIS, more than 800 employees have been hired to computerize patient records to keep up with modern technology.

America Recycles Day set on November 15

Florida Governor Charlie Crist has recently signed a directive stating that November 15 is slated as America Recycles Day, a time where Americans are encouraged to recycle stuff deemed no longer useable at home but could serve its purpose in any other way.

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has come up with a list of tips that encourages the constituents to recycle, not just during the aforementioned date but the whole year round. One of the highlights of this list is encouraging the locals to give away business clothing that are no longer used but can still be utilized by others in light of the financial crisis.

DEP’s Division of Waste Management Director Mary Jean Yon said that the America Recycles Day is a great opportunity to remind everyone that they have the power to help in preserving the limited resources of the nation and a little act of recycling can definitely go a long way.

Business clothes drive conducted to help domestic violence victims

What better way to help the victims of domestic violence than to assist them in regaining their independence.

In celebrating the National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a non-profit group is asking for assistance to the public in helping the victims get back to their feet by finding them a job. However, in order to increase the chances of being hired, business clothes are needed.

Allstate Foundation is conducting a national donation drive in a bid to collect still usable women’s business clothes including appropriate undergarments such as bras and other professional attire. The drive ends later this week.

The volunteers believe that in order for the victim regain her independence, she should acquire a job of her own in order to sustain herself and her children, if she has any. This would break the usual perception that she will still be dependent on the earnings of her abusive partner.

Business clothing provided for aspiring employees

The Nashua Salvation Army is currently conducting its Dress for Success Program which ends on August 15. This is part of the organization’s summer initiative.

Aspiring employees can simply go to the program center located at Montgomery Avenue to get their free women’s and men’s business clothing in order for them to sport on a respectable image whenever the go on job interviews or job fairs.

Nashua Salvation Army CEO Maj. Carl Carvill said that aside from basic commodities, people these days are finding employment because they may have been those who were let go in their former companies. The global financial crisis has simply affected everyone.

The women’s and men’s business clothing provided are guaranteed clean thanks to the efforts provided by local cleaning companies such as Anton’s Cleaners, Dave’s Dry Cleaner and True Blue Cleaners.

The Salvation Army is still continuing accepting donations from kind-hearted individuals. The volunteers said that they need dress shirts, neckties, skirts, blouses, dresses and shoes.

Salvation Army Advisory Board Chairman Tom Jenkins said that first impressions always matter when it comes to job interviews thus it is important for jobseekers to wear business clothing to exude professionalism and competency during the interview.

Canada-based department store starts business clothing drive for aspiring jobseekers

The popular Kingsmills Department Store, located in London, Ontario, Canada, has reportedly launched a massive business clothing drive that will help out aspiring jobseekers find employment in these trying times.

The retail has started collecting business clothes from generous individuals. The items will then be donated to ClothingWorks, a non-profit organization that will distribute the business clothing to individuals who want to dress decently during job interviews.

ClothingWorks will be giving away these clothes at no charge to the receiver, thanks to the donors.

Kingsmills Women’s Fashions Manager Chris Demelo said that this worthwhile charitable activity is a welcome breath of fresh air for those who are in need. Finding another work has become common-place these days due to massive layoffs.

Demelo is optimistic that their undertaking will become a huge success, owing to the generous nature of the residents in the area.

The clothing campaign will take place at the store starting June 1 and will run for two weeks during store hours. Demelo appealed to the public to donate business casual or business clothing only in order for them to easily sift through the items.

Demelo added that there donors will get to chance some great items from the store.

Business Clothing Drive in Canada a Success

The Women’s Enterprise Skills Training (WEST) of Windsor City, Ontario held its annual business clothing drive last week – 9/4/2008. Now, WEST heads are saying that the drive was a success. It is estimated that drive donations increased by 50 percent this year compared to last year. WEST conducted the drive in an aim to assist women who are reentering the work force. Skills aren’t the only thing that’s necessary. You need the right business clothes, too.

The drive is part of WEST’s Ready for Work program that aims to help women enter the Canadian workforce. The organization also assists female immigrants who are new to the city’s work group. This is the third year that WEST conducted a Business Clothing drive and by far it’s the most successful.
WEST believes this is a great way for women to gain confidence to enter the workforce once more. A lot of women who dropped by the drive were those who haven’t worked in a few years. Some of them are stay-at-home moms who want get back to work but don’t have the means to buy new business clothing.

Organizers at WEST are encouraging women in and around Ontario, Canada to drop by their office and donate used business clothing. As of now, the organization is still in need of fall and winter business clothes.
