Kate Middleton skips fashion dinner for war heroes

The organizers of the recently concluded Fashion for the Brave dinner were reportedly disappointed that the girlfriend of Prince William, Kate Middleton, did not attend the dinner for a cause. What made them even more dismayed was the fact that she did not even send any reply to the invitation that was given to her.

The Fashion for the Brave dinner intends to raise funds for Help for Heroes and the Army Benevolent Fund.

There were more than 320 invitations sent out and Middleton was one of the four who did not give any response at all. Her boyfriend sent a reply via his private secretary. According to reports, both Princes William and Harry were unable to take part in the fundraising because they could not easily get leave of absences from their military duties.

The event raised more than £250,000 and was hosted by television personality Angela Rippon. Rippon waived her talent fees for the event.

Fashion retail giant beats forecasts with positive figures

LVMH, the biggest luxury group in the world, reportedly beat forecasts when it reported a 14 percent increase in its third quarter sales. This is due to the strong recovery of its lines of businesses – wines, champagnes and fashion. Expected growth for this period has been placed at 11 percent.

LVMH became the first luxury group in Europe to reveal its third quarter financial reports. Surprisingly, it reported that the significant increase was boosted by its expansion in China as the weaker euro has attracted Asian shoppers to go and by its products.

In 2009, the luxury goods industry suffered a major blow and LVMH was no exception, reported a three percent drop in revenues at the same period.

The retail giant owns popular global brands such as Louis Vuitton and Celine. It also is the biggest champagne maker in the world and owns Moet & Chandon.
